| Thought I'd start a new thread on the new indoor track: "Big Cups International Raceway", or maybe "Cheese City Xtreme Raceway - Home of the big cups". Anyway, it was interesting to see how the track space took shape last Saturday. It went from a dusty, dirty, neglected storage space to a dusty, dirty future RC track in a matter of hours. I left before all the fun was over, but I gotta say when I got there, it sure didn't look like a race track (and I thought Ryan was a little crazy about knocking out a 10'x16' concrete slab, knocking out a concrete block wall, moving a water heater, etc.). I think the track space will be about 45' x 75' - if my pacing around up there was halfway accurate. The space has a low ceiling, but that shouldn't be a big deal. Maybe we can start a pool of who will be the first person to fly their stadium truck into a ceiling rafter -- I pick Jerod . Still a lot of work to do, but when you see the space up there now, you can definitely envision what it may look like. I didn't take any pictures of the space. If anyone else did, it may be interesting to post them here to show people the progress that is being made. So..... What's next? I know there is a work day planned for Saturday -- what kind of work? What tools should we bring? | |

| Scott;
We are taking Tonight (Wednesday) off so the little kiddies can do the trick or treat thing. We are going to have a work night on Thursday (Nov 1st) and tackle some of the small projects if anyone can make it. We plan to wrap up between 8 & 8:30.
Then Saturday we will start about 9 a.m. The plan is right now to start constructing the walls. So I would say Hammers, Tape Measures, Saws and things like that would be good.
I will make sure Ryan posts something by Thursday Afternoon or Friday.
Thanks

| So.... How did things go the rest of the day Saturday? Who can give us all an update?
Sorry I had to leave at 3, I was out of town the whole week and told my wife and kids I'd be in Monroe for "just" 5 hours.
So, what got done, what's next, and when?

| Let me update you on a few things….
1. I will put this rumor to rest right now. NO IT WILL NOT BE AN INDOOR DIRT TRACK AT THIS TIME… We are not ruling it out for a later season but now we will be going with plywood under layment and then the carpet will go on top. Sorry!!!!
2. The North South Wall was completely finished late Saturday Night and the rough framing on the north wall was finished on Sunday. All that needs to be done with the walls are the North one needs to be closed up completely and then the painter will be back and we will get them painted and then the banners will go up and they will be finished.
3. The two next big projects we need to do are first remove a small wall behind or electrical panel and move or re-secure it. Then we will get the floor covered with the plywood which should hopefully be completed by the end of next weekend.
4. Then the following weekend we should be able to bring the carpet and other stuff over from the school and get that set in place. Do some final small items (Getting the pits finished, wire in the sound system, final cleaning, etc…etc...)
5. Then we will do the meetings (date and time to be announced)
6. Right now if the above all plays out real well we are looking at starting either the last weekend in November or more than likely the first or second weekend in December.
If anyone would be available to help any day or night this week please let Ryan know. Otherwise we plan on getting back at it on Saturday November 10th at 9 a.m. We may also work on Sunday November 11th if anyone can help.
Either Ryan or my self will post an update by mid week.
A big Thanks goes out to all who help this weekend as well. It was really appreciated…
Thanks

| I'm curious about the plywood floor. Will they be glued or somehow attached to the concrete floor or connected to each other somehow? I guess I just can't picture how that will work - but will be glad if it does. What about a drivers stand? Will the scoring booth and computer be located in the knock-out on the west end of the south wall (seems to be a good place for it)? If so, the "back stretch" could be along the south wall with the start/finish line at the end of the back stretch (right by the scoring booth). If that all makes sense, then the drivers stand could go on the north wall. The stairs down to the lower level already cut into the north side of the track area, so putting the drivers stand on that side would seem to make sense. If you want, I can start sketching out some ideas for the drivers stand if no one has done that yet. Let me know. I'd propose 24' long plus steps or a ramp. This should allow 8-10 drivers at a time. Maybe just 12-18" high due to the low ceiling, 4' wide. If you haven't figured out by now, I'm one of those people that likes to plan ahead . | |

| I like that idea for the drivers stand and computer location. Give Ryan a call sometime and see if he would be interested in getting that started.
As far as the dirt..for anyone who has not been up there, there is a lot of it. For some reason Tabby has started cleaning it all. I don't really know whats going on??? Anyway it is starting to look like a race track.

| Scott;
We have not decided or discussed too much on where the drivers stand will be or what it will be. If you want to go ahead and sketch something out I am sure Ryan will be glad to take a look at it. Yes the scoring booth will be in the knocked out area or near there. I know they will be framing in a door by the stairs on the north side so that will not be totally open. Also, to answer your plywood question. We will be getting an adhesive of some sort. So the Plywood won't move but if we ever need to we can take it back up again.
Mansonfish.. Please see my last post. Not much has changed from there. Other than we hope to have the North wall finished by either Tuesday or Wednesday night because the painter is supposed to be back by Thursday. The other big thing will be to do something with the electrical panel......
I will try and get a couple of pictures after the weekends work and post them so you can see how it is coming along...

| For the drivers stand, I'd suggest building three free standing platforms, each one 4'x8' (one sheet of 3/4" plywood on a 2"x6" or 2"x8" frame). Each of these platforms should only need to be 12 - 18" high, so we probably don't even need a railing. If we wanted to, we could just use a few C clamps underneath them to hold them all together for a 4' x 24' drivers stand. This should be big enough for 8-10 drivers. We could also build a couple 4' wide boxes to serve as the steps up to the stand.
The advantage of building in pieces like this is we can always move it easily if desired, or move it outside or to the Wal Mart parking lot or wherever for outdoor RC demonstrations.

| Last night (Wednesday), we got about 1/2 of the north wall sheeted when I left at 8pm. Not sure if any more got done. Also Chris was working hard on filling in gaps and leveling the floor. Got a lot done, not sure how much more he has to do.
FYI, I'll be out of town till Wednesday, so not sure when I'll be up there next to help. But I can't wait to see the progress that will be made in the next several days.
Hopefully, we'll be building a drivers stand next week and setting up the pit areas?
We're getting there.
Rick and Ryan, Keep us all posted on what you need. If you can give everyone a couple's days notice on what's next I'm sure people will make every effort to get there to help out.
Thanks. | |

| After an awesome weekend where we finished up the north wall, Framed in the exit door, GOT THE ENTIRE SUB FLOOR LAID DOWN. Got all the lights in the track area working and got almost everything painted. A BIG thanks goes out to all who helped this past week and weekend with out all of you we would not be in this great of shape. We can now make the following announcement. Cheese City X-treme RC in Monroe is please to announce that our new indoor electric racing facility is tentatively scheduled to open on Saturday November 24. Exact track details, opening day details and indoor racing details will be released as opening day gets closer. We will also post a picture or two of our finished track for you to see. Hopefully many of you will be there to help us open our new track in style. There are still several small items that need and will be done this week. The biggest will be a mid week moving night where we will move the stuff from the school to the shop. | Awesome! Keep us posted on what's happening this week. When's moving night Wednesday, Thursday,...? I may be able to help out one evening this week. I may be busy Saturday. Do you know when the meeting will be to discuss race days, times, classes, etc. (hopefully not Saturday). Or, maybe you could post ideas here for classes, etc.? Whatever, let us know. | |

| Hey Scott and everyone....
The one thing I can updet you on for sure is that we will be having Moving night on Wednesday night. Right now it looks like we will be making the first trip to the school around 6 p.m. ish or so. We have a car trailer and a truck or two lined up already so we should hopefully be able to move it all in one trip. The part where we will need extra help is when we get back to the shop and have to carry every thing from the back bay to the upstairs. So if anyone can help we will meet at the shop around 6 p.m. and if all goes well we should be done by 8 - 8:15 at the latest.
What I know for Saturday is that the pre season meetings will be taking place. Right now it looks like it will take place in the mid afternoon time frame. I will try an get a more solid time by middle of the week. Also I will gladly post a transcript of what was discussed on this forum either late Sat but more than likely on Sunday.

| Subject: Drivers Stand November 20th 2007, 1:04 pm | |
| Hey all, I plan to be at the track at 6 or 6:30pm tonight to build the driver stands. Ryan will be getting the wood sometime today.
They will basically be three 4' x 8' wood frames (2x6) with 3/4" plywood flooring. They will have 4x4 legs to raise them to about 12 or 1`4 inches.
Basically, we'll build three separate 4' x 8' platforms, then just slide them together.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks. | |

| Hey! We got the driver stand done tonight. Thanks to everyone who helped. It's looking more and more like a track . The photo shows 2 sections of the drivers stand (8' long each). There are actually 3 sections, so we have 24' of drivers stand. https://servimg.com/view/11333655/17 | |
